No Title? We Can Often Help Proof Of Ownership Is Always Required
Depending on your vehicle we may ask for a valid photo ID, current or expired registration, or other ownership documentation. All purchases follow Tennessee law and Tennessee Department of Revenue requirements. We cannot buy a vehicle you are not authorised to sell.
Photo ID Required Registration Helps We Check Before We Roll

Most junk car buyers in Nashville will not touch a vehicle without a title. We often can — but never without confirming you are legally entitled to sell it . A missing title is usually a paperwork problem rather than an ownership problem, and paperwork problems have solutions. Call (615) 917-2015 with the year, make, model and whatever documents you do have, and we will tell you exactly what is needed for that vehicle before anyone drives out.
What we may ask for
Documents that establish ownership
Photo ID
A valid, unexpired government-issued ID that matches the person selling the vehicle. This one is not optional.
Registration
Current or expired registration in your name is the most common substitute for a title, and expired is fine.
Bill of sale
If you bought the car privately and never transferred it, a bill of sale helps establish the chain of ownership.
Lien release
If the vehicle was ever financed, we may need proof the loan was settled and the lender no longer has a claim.
Situations we see constantly
A relative passed away and the car is still in their name. An inherited vehicle sitting in the driveway. A car bought years ago where the seller never signed the title over. A title lost in a move three addresses ago. A vehicle abandoned on property you own.
None of these are unusual and none of them automatically mean no. What they mean is that we need to work out who is entitled to sell before money changes hands. That conversation takes about five minutes on the phone.

What we will not do
We do not purchase stolen vehicles, or vehicles the seller is not authorised to sell. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any purchase, at any point up to and including the moment of pickup, if ownership cannot be verified to our satisfaction or if documentation appears altered or inconsistent.
Tennessee requires a dealer to make a reasonably diligent inquiry into whether a seller has the legal right to sell before purchasing. We take that seriously, and telling you the requirements up front is how we avoid wasting your afternoon and ours.
Questions
Titles and paperwork, answered
Can you really buy a car with no title?
In many cases, yes. What we cannot do is buy a vehicle without verifying you are legally able to sell it. A title is the easiest proof, but it is not the only one — photo ID plus current or expired registration covers a great many situations. Call (615) 917-2015 and describe what you have.
The car was my father's and he passed away. Can I sell it?
Often yes, but it depends on how the estate was handled and whose name is on the vehicle. Call and tell us the situation before you make any arrangements, because the answer changes depending on documentation and we would rather work it out on the phone than on your driveway.
I lost the title. Should I order a duplicate first?
Not necessarily. Ordering a replacement title through the county clerk is always an option, but in a lot of cases we can complete the purchase without it. Call first — there is no sense paying a fee and waiting on paperwork you may not need.
What if my name is not on the registration either?
Then we need to establish how the vehicle came to you. A bill of sale, previous owner details, or documentation showing the vehicle was abandoned on your property may all be relevant. Tell us the full story and we will tell you honestly whether we can proceed.
Will you still tow it away for free?
Yes, on vehicles we buy within 20 miles of Nashville, once ownership is confirmed. The paperwork question and the free pickup are separate things — clearing the first one does not cost you anything on the second.
Tell us what paperwork you have
Year, make, model, and whatever documents are in the glovebox or the kitchen drawer. Five minutes on the phone and you will know exactly where you stand.
